Vanguard EMS wins two major System Integration Group customers

Beaverton, OR – January 2009 - Vanguard EMS, an Electronic Manufacturing Services Provider, reports significant growth in their System Integration Group. Since its inception in 2007, Vanguard’s System Integration Group has become a key service offering for Vanguard’s customers. The System Integration Group assembles products from the sub assembly level all the way to the final system or product.
The two recent product introductions are both from Fortune 500 companies and include an infant respirator and a disk-drive production line test system. The respirator is a life sustaining medical device for premature infants. It is able to monitor the infant’s lungs and pulsates the correct amount of oxygen to assist in keeping the infant alive until its lungs fully develop. Vanguard assembles six different sub-assemblies, the final system and then performs a final test before the respirator is shipped to their customer. Vanguard also produces an internal test base system for a disk drive company that will serve over 1800 manufacturing lines around the world in an 18 month time line.
In addition to the current products being completed by the System Integration Group, Vanguard has experience with a variety of other products which include vision systems for SMT and manufacturing inspection systems and network access products.
To ensure product quality, Vanguard offers a variety of test tools to suit specific customer needs. Their world class test department includes in circuit, flying probe and boundary scan testing, and a 20 member test technician team for troubleshooting and functional testing. Test is performed at key steps in the manufacturing process to catch defects at the earliest possible point. The goal is to drive cost out of the production process and provide a quality product.
In outsourcing products to Vanguard, customers are better able to focus on core activities to increase their market share. CEO Floyd Sutz stresses this benefit in stating that, “With Vanguard providing our customers with higher-level electro-mechanical assembly services for their complete products, they free up resources to focus on designing and introducing new products to their markets. This takes a lot of complexity off their shoulders and provides higher returns.”
